This year the Down family bit off a little more than we could chew. 2016 delivered several big life changes, from buying a house to bringing home a baby and everything in between. Somehow we managed to survive—just barely—but we’ve dedicated the twelve months ahead of us to just living life instead of introducing more major changes.
1) Charlie Louise Down was born two days before Thanksgiving.
2) While working full-time, Alec also took a full load of classes for his master’s degree.
3) Kelsey landed a new job in digital media.
5) We adopted Albus Dumbledog one week after moving into our first home.
But beyond those five milestones, we made hundreds of other memories, big and small.
Like two surprise getaways to Park City. Spending Labor Day in Moab, and Kelsey hiking to Delicate Arch at 28 weeks pregnant. Friendsgiving with new friends and old. Rallying for Bernie Sanders during the primaries. Voting for the first female major-party candidate in a presidential election. Painting 20+ walls in our new home. Taking Albus to the dog park. Trying new local restaurants. Hosting Alec’s mom and her dear friend in Charlie’s second week of life. Watching Food Network shows and trying our hands at the recipes.
Shoutout to the friends and family who have helped us make this year memorable. We wish you all the best in 2017.
